Founding Story

I’m an Indian American male in my early 30s. As many of you who share one or more of these traits may know, this can be a time in life where all vacations, disposable income, and PTO are planned and spent to attend the myriad 3-day weddings happening across the U.S., Mexico, India, and who knows where else. Don’t get me wrong, it’s super fun. I love weddings, especially Indian weddings. The multiple nights of delicious food, flashy outfits, open bar, lying to aunties about relationship status, pretending to know the choreographed dance, and the overall energy and fanfare of it all is right in my wheelhouse. What I don’t love, however, is the shoes.

My friends and I have complained about juttis (or khussas, mojaris, whatever you may call the traditional South Asian shoes) for years, wondering when and if there would ever be a better solution for our feet. While pretty cool, the traditional shoes are horribly uncomfortable, not versatile enough for other outfits, and generally of poor quality. But after waiting around for years seeing people try and fail to make traditional loafers, slippers, and good ol’ bare feet work, nothing seemed to do the job. A friend’s wife even cropped all of her wedding pictures above the knee because her husband decided to wear red Toms to his own wedding; he’ll be regretting that decision for a while. See the picture above for an embarrassing shot of me in a great outfit absolutely ruined by rubber slippers.

I'm not in fashion or apparel. I'm an engineer by education and a strategist by trade. But over the past few years I’ve learned a lot and worked with developers and artisans to create a pair of shoes that is not only comfortable, but one that you'll want to wear to your next wedding, date night, school dance, or night out. East meets West for the design; traditional technique meets modern technology for comfort. This is the first launch of a new shoe, and I'm excited to have you on this journey!
